You. Your “Group of 5.” And the Right Mastermind for You.

Uncategorized Oct 15, 2019

There’s a saying by Motivational Speaker Jim Rohn,  that “you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.”

Let that sink in.

The 5 people.

Now, name their names and consider their qualities.

Perhaps you’re inspired.

Maybe you’re a little concerned!

My point is not to judge your friends but to have you take a second to consider the type of person you are, and the one you want to be.

Sometimes you need new relationships to get you there. Relationships to stretch and support you where you know you need to grow.

These are masterminds.

Think of it as your “group of 5”  (or however many are in it!) that is committed to bringing out the best in you (and you, for the others).

So, are you ready? Are you willing?

Women entrepreneurs ask this of themselves and to me all the time.

It’s a great question and so let me quickly tell you what I tell those who want to grow and are curious about masterminds.

Find a group that shares your industry.

For example, it’s not enough to say if you’re business to look for a business mastermind. It’s important to ask yourself a few extra questions.

  • Do you want a group that focuses on brick and mortar owners, realtors, online course creators, or the tech industry? You get the idea!
  • What stage of business are you in? Are you starting out, wanting to scale your business, or work through a new venture?

Pick the size that helps you thrive.

People who lead masterminds hold all kinds of group sizes. Pick the one that’s right for you. Are you interested in information and networking? Maybe a bigger group of 10-100 is what you need. Do you want more attention, deeper connection, and sharper focus from a smaller group? Find one that’s 4-10 people.

 Join don’t just attend.

I tell my members that the beauty of the mastermind is that we do more than attend–we show up. We show up with our ideas. We show up by being present. And we show up for each other. Masterminds help us prioritize our “group of 5” relationships which helps us prioritize the goals we know we want to accomplish. So ask yourself:

  • Can I commit to showing up consistently? You need them and they need you!
  • Am I ready to do the work? Sure, joining a mastermind can be scary at first, but remember that success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. With a mastermind, we’re a team that’s in it together!  Am I ready to grow? Masterminds are designed to call out the best in you while also encouraging growth areas. A growth mindset is willing to learn, change, and try. It takes guts. In a mastermind, you grow with a trusted group where success is trying and failure is a step closer to success.

Women in my groups say that they feel challenged and inspired like never before to stick to their goals and succeed because they see others in the group doing succeeding.

Who you surround yourself with matters.

So, who are YOUR five?

Who would you like them to be? Who do you need them to be?

Who do you need to surround yourself with to rise to a new level?

Why not take these guidelines to heart and consider a mastermind.

I’m here if you’d like to take the conversation further!
