Welcome to the first Breakthrough Mastermind Podcast. Allow me to set the stage for you. 

Imagine having coffee... with a group of your friends who are smart and caring. They are also a  group who you feel really understand you because in many ways, they’re in the same boat you are after chatting for a bit, you share with your friends, a struggle that you’re having. They might even ask you some clarifying questions to make sure they really get  it. Then you  invite their input. From the knowledge of their own education and experience, they generously share an idea to help you out. That’s great, isn’t it? But wait, it gets better now that they’ve heard...

Overview:

In this episode we’re going to be talking about the key transformational elements of a mastermind and the different types of masterminds. 

It’s important to understand these key transformational elements because once you understand these elements, you’ll see how some of these elements show up in a stronger way in the various types of masterminds.

The Power of Groups

With my background as a licensed therapist and having been leading groups for over 30 years and having been in some very powerful groups myself, I’ve always believed in the power of well led groups.

There are 4 key transformational elements about groups that I’m going to highlight.

1. There’s an element of real time feedback from others. When you’re with one person, like let say once coach. They can give you feedback and you might ask yourself if you trust it or not. When you got feedback in a group, you might still question the feedback but typically...

Tell me about your family!

Who are your friends?

Where do you hang out and with whom?

We ask and answer these questions all the time. 

They’re questions of connection. And they remind us that our lives are not (and cannot) exist in isolation.

Life is richer together.

Family feels closer when we seek each other out. 

Friendships have a deeper meaning when we make time for each other.

The same goes for your business community.

But business relationships are harder to find.

Regularly, I’m impressed by women I meet, counsel, and coach who are remarkable at what they do– they're smart, visionary, accomplished.

But lonely.

It’s as if their business accomplishments have isolated them from others.

And they feel it.

Women business owners need connected relationships, as well.

In fact, I’ve discovered that those who prioritize their business community relationships go further and remain inspired.

What is a mastermind?

When you start to learn about the habits of highly successful people, you hear them talk about belonging to a mastermind (or multiple masterminds). The concept of a mastermind has been around a long time. We know that many successful people were in one like Benjamin Franklin, Dale Carnegie, and many well known successful people today, such as Oprah, Lewis Howes, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffet to name a few.

Napoleon Hill coined the word Mastermind in his classic book, Think and Grow Rich, by saying it is, “the coordination of knowledge and effort between two or more people who work towards a definite purpose in a spirit of harmony…no two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind”, also known as, the Mastermind.

Also, they are very different from group coaching where there is a "sage from the stage." In a mastermind group, not just...
